Human Rights is an integral part of the conversation around stigmatised diseases. World Leprosy Day, on the last Sunday of January each year, aims to increase public awareness of leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, and the complications surrounding it. The next World Leprosy Day is on 26 January 2020. The cornerstone of this campaign is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which is a touchstone for positive actions by governments, individuals, and non-governmental organisations. UDHR has a moral and political significance that provides a guide to action and an evolving set of ideals for future implementation.
