ISPTID's aims are to: foster non-industrial scientific medical studies and/or any ethically and legally permissible effort that leads to a precise prevention of tobacco abuse, tobacco addiction, and tobacco-induced and/or -worsened diseases; foster non-industrial scientific medical studies and/or any ethically and legally permissible effort that leads to a precise prevention of induced and/or -worsened diseases through involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke (passive smoking);facilitate communication and dissemination of knowledge among industrially-independent scientists involved in such studies as mentioned above; promote and foster public health education, pre-school and school health education (all within the ethical, cultural and legal conditions of different areas) to enhance the human knowledge, from early childhood, about the actual hazards of tobacco use; and to suggest health educational plans and/or preventive strategies to legislative or governmental bodies.
