About this Window

With the implementation of the Lei Paulista de Inovação (Document in Portuguese) (Innovation São Paulo Law), the State of São Paulo have been acting in a constant, growing movement focusing the significant progress in the proceedings for building, implementing, and consolidating science, technology and innovation actions. In order to apply the principles of this regulation, the São Paulo State Health Department (SHD/SP), through the Science, Technology and Strategic Health Inputs Office, started, in 2008, to coordinate the process and development of specific actions aiming the incorporation and management of innovation in health within the scope of the institution.

The objective of this window is to point out the main actions in that history, including projects, documents, specific legislation, and other information relevant to the subject.

Council for Science, Technology and Innovation in Health at SHD/SP

The CST&I-Health was created in the scope of the São Paulo State Health Department through Resolution SS n. 26, of 02/26/2008, and was altered by Resolution SS n. 45, of 05/18/2011, (articles 2nd e 3rd). Its 5th article appoints that the VHL Information and Knowledge Network must support the CST&I-Health in their actions and operations.

TICs at SHD/SP

The Technological Innovation Centers – TICs were created through Decree n. 56.569, de 22/12/2010. From such Decree, Resolution SS n. 53, of 05/10/2012 was published, creating the Technological Innovation Centers – TICs in the scope of the São Paulo State Health Department. TICs are coordinated by the Science, Technology and Strategic Health Inputs Office – STSHIO. Its role is to support technological innovation of products and processes, and to take out health patents within the São Paulo State Research Institutes.

Observatory of Science, Technology, and Innovation (OCTI)

The Observatory of Science, Technology, and Innovation (OCTI) has as its main objective the
monitoring of scientific, technological, and innovation production, following trends in Brazil
and around the world.
The OCTI also develops indicators that allow us to guide and monitor the public policies of
ST&I in the country and evaluate them in the international context.
